According to investopedia carbon credit is a permit that allows the company that holds it to emit a certain amount of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases. As regards the efficiency of a carbon credit, it is more efficient in developed countries because they have the luxury to prioritize it, but in developing countries, the effectiveness is diminished because they tend to prioritize economic growth and poverty reduction as opposed to climate change and fossil fuel use reduction.
