"My first project designing a Food Forest for the volunteer-run public garden/community food security organization, Edible Brattleboro! I met with the group to assess their desires and concerns for starting a perennial polyculture orchard as a demonstration site and small propagation nursery. Then I assessed the conditions on the site, which is an old apple orchard that belongs to the group's founder, Marilyn Chiarello. By combining the needs of the organization and conditions of the landscape, I've revealed some opportunities for first steps the team can take to begin converting the orchard to meet their goals.
